Photoperiod Seeds

Photoperiod cannabis seeds grow into plants that flower in response to light rather than to age. The plant keeps growing until its daily dark period gets long enough, roughly twelve hours indoors or late summer outdoors, and only then does it begin to flower. An autoflowering plant works the other way round: it starts flowering a set number of weeks after it sprouts, whatever the light is doing.

That single difference is why photoperiod lines are still the reference point for the whole category. Because flowering is triggered rather than automatic, the growth stage can run for as long as there is room for it, and the plants finish considerably taller than autos. A photoperiod run commonly takes sixteen to twenty four weeks from seed against eight to twelve for an autoflower.

Every autoflowering line in existence was built by crossing the autoflowering trait into photoperiod genetics like these, which is where the four seed types on this site come from.
